Hello everyone. Hope you had a great summer. If our last newsletter had you reaching for the hankies because it was full of goodbyes, don’t worry – this one is full of hellos! The Parent Council would like to welcome our new headteacher Mrs Innes – we are looking forward to working together as the term gets underway. We’d also like to say hello to our lovely new janitor and friendly-face-in-the-playground, Mrs MacDonald and to all our new pupils – primary ones Ava, Kieran, Summer and Sienna; Emilee in primary two; and Erica in primary five – and their families. We hope you are already settling in to life here at Auldhouse.

AGM AND THE ‘NEW’ COMMITTE

The Parent Council’s action-packed AGM took place last week – thanks to all who came along. In the absence of any other nominations for chairperson, secretary and treasurer, the current trio of Rebecca Hay, Ann Wallace and Mandy Green agreed to stay on for a further two-year tenure. Committee members Carol Mackerron, Liz Smith, Charlie Mackinnon and Robert Potter are also staying on board, which is fantastic news. If you’d like to chat to any of the Parent Council members, feel free to catch up with us at the school gates, or email the school.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

We’re planning a few fun events this term – please come along and support the school! More details will be available shortly, but first up is one for the kids – Movie Night will take place on October 8 in the school. Bring a cushion and a onesie, settle down with some popcorn, and enjoy a fantastic family film…

The adults are not being left out – in November, we are planning to head for The Lost Lamb at the Auldhouse for our first ever All for Auldhouse Quiz Night. Details about tickets and timings will be available soon.

And finally, building on the success of our wonderful windfarm welly walks, we are doing it all again – with a difference. Our Halloween-themed sponsored walk will take place on Saturday, October 31 at 4pm at Langlands Moss, and fancy dress is encouraged. It’s more of a Spooky Stroll than a Welly Walk, but it will still be lots of fun….Sponsor forms will be out soon!

POLICY GROUP

Mrs Innes would like to hear from parents interested in joining a small group set up to look at the school’s policies, vision and values. This is an important process for the school, particularly as we head towards our HMI inspection and it would be great to include parents’ voices. If anyone would like to sign up or simply to know more, please contact Mrs Innes.

FOREST SCHOOLS OUT-OF-SCHOOL CARE CLUB

This term’s Forest Schools Out-of-School Care Club is off to a flying start, with 13 children signed up for fantastic outdoor learning and fun at Langlands Moss with Christine Smith. The Parent Council is supporting Christine’s new initiative which costs £7 per child per session (trial price only). More details from Christine in the playground, or contact the school office on 01355 263200.

CLOTHING BANK – PLEASE DONATE!

Just a reminder that our clothing bank at St James’s Retail Park is the perfect place to deposit all the old clothes, bedding, bags and shoes you no longer need. PLEASE remember, however, not to leave bags outside it if it is full – the retail park bosses will complain, and possibly ask us to remove it, if that continues.
