Newsletter…..February 2016…..

Hi everyone. Never mind the snow and freezing temperatures – it’s time to put a spring in your step with some fantastic Parent Council fundraising events for the term ahead! As always, your hardworking committee would appreciate your thoughts and opinions….please email us or catch us at the school gates.

Upcoming events

The latest in our new and successful series of events at Langlands Moss is a Sponsored Spring Stroll with Eggs-tremely Eggs-citing Fun and Games on Saturday March 19, from 2pm until 4pm. More details to follow, but there will be eggs. And bunnies. And probably quite a lot of chocolate. Don’t miss it! Sponsor forms will be out later this week. Friends of Langlands Moss will be there too, carrying out a spring bird box clear-out, so anyone feeling eggs-hausted by all the Easter themed stuff is welcome to lend a hand.

This year’s fabulous Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, May 14, from 11am until 2pm. We are looking for helpers – if you can spare even a short while to take a stall or activity, we’d be very grateful. It’s always a great day, with tombola, home-baking and plant stalls, hot dogs and ice cream, facepainting and plenty of fun games. More details to follow.

Forest school update

The next sessions of our fantastic Forest School out of school club are planned for April 21 and 29 and May 6, 13 and 20. The Friday sessions will run from 3pm until 5.30pm and will cost £8 each (or a discount rate of £35 if all five are paid for in advance).

However, forest school leader Christine Smith desperately needs helpers to commit to supporting her at these sessions to ensure high adult-to-child ratios.

If you are able to help on any of these dates, can you please let Christine know by calling her or catching her in the playground, as otherwise this club may not be able to continue.  Children of those parents helping are not charged for the session.

Credit union

At our last meeting, Lanarkshire Credit Union came to talk to us about setting one up in the school. We’d love to know what parents think about the idea – email us or chat to us in the playground. The children would be encouraged to save a regular amount each week and eventually, after initial support, would run the enterprise themselves. Let us know what you think.

Auldhouse Primary has arrived on Twitter with a bang – you can follow the school’s account at @AuldhousePS – spread the word!

Next meeting…

Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 3, at 7.30pm in the school staff room – please note this is a change to the original date of March 10. Hope to see you all there.
